Winter Night Falling
by Bryan R South
This is not the first time this book has been published. But the one the author likes best. Bryan feels that he has done his best work work on this version and I can see why.
The Four Kingdoms are in peril. A demon Lord thought forever imprisoned in limbo has escaped and begins to summon his Horde once again to take his revenge. In his twisted black iron tower he summons a massive wall of darkness that brings the winter storms in the fullest.
Now the Four Kingdoms are each proud and full of themselves. All the races of the realms must come together and fight the demon lord once again. Magic has been outlawed, and it is up to the reawakened Grand Mage, an eccentric old man, and what is left of the Mage Knights, as well as a budding Guardian to try to keep the peace.
Can the Grand Mage and his friends get the other kingdoms to move in time to stop the Demon Lord? Does the Demon Lord have more than one objective now that he is free? Only time will tell.
There is action in this book from the word go. The tale is beautifully woven and the characters are really fleshed out. I found this book hard to put down from the minute I started to read it. The cover as well is fabulous. I cannot wait to read the conclusion to this story when it becomes available. The magic of the tale keeps you mystified until the end.
The characters are quite colorful, each with their own unique personalities and traits. Even characters that are related to one another do not quite act in the same ways as their other relatives.
For the beginning, of what looks to be a long line of fantasy novels, this is a great start. Bryan has given us some history in his world that we delve into while telling the tale of the story at the very same time. This way there is no loss in the tale as we try to learn more about the world of Ti-ara.
A big 5 out of 5 stars.
